RentRight Software Activation

License Registration:
RentRight, Inc. automatically registers licenses ordered directly from RentRight. After purchase, the software can be activated online. (See Online Activation below)

RentRight license owners who purchase RentRight 25 from a store, RentRight reseller, or any other online venue need to mail or fax over the completed Software Registration Card included in the product box or a valid sales receipt at purchase with their contact information for RentRight to identify their license ownership. Upon registration, customers will receive full RentRight customer benefits, for example, free support releases, upgrade credit, and newsletters, etc.

RentRight free demo or educational demo owners do NOT own a RentRight license unless they purchase a fully licensed copy.

Online Activation after Purchase:
After purchase of RentRight is completed, you can download the free trial from our web site and activate this copy online.
OR
After purchase of RentRight if you have paid to have the product shipped to you, install the CD and you can activate online.

To activate online, choose “I have purchased RentRight and want to activate it” on the first screen that comes up after you open the installed software.  Follow the prompts to activate online. Type in the company name (if there is one), your name (first and last), and zip code that you registered with us at purchase. Click Finish and your RentRight software will connect to our customer database at RentRight, identify your ownership, and automatically activate your license.

To Reinstall RentRight on the Same Computer:
First, install RentRight from your original CD and then download the update to the latest version of RentRight 3 from our web page here: Update. This is a free update to the very latest version of the software. If you have a problem downloading the update, go to our order page to have a new CD sent to you: Order.

Once the latest update is installed, you will be able to activate online. Choose “I am reinstalling on the same computer.” from the first screen that comes up after you open the installed software.  Follow the prompts to activate online. Type in the company name (if there is one), your name (first and last), and zip code that you registered with us at purchase. Click Finish and your RentRight software will connect to our customer database at RentRight, identify your ownership, and automatically activate your license.

Transferring License from One Computer to Another:
To move your software to a new computer, first install the latest version of RentRight on the new computer. To do this, go to our web site and download the RentRight demo program at Here: Download. RentRight demo is the very latest version of RentRight 3. Now go to the old computer and open RentRight, go to File on the menu bar and choose Back Up to back up your data. Now go to the new computer and go to File and Restore your data. You will be able to restore your data into the demo copy. You will have 30 days before you will need to activate the software on the new computer. Make sure that your data transferred correctly.

Now you need to move your license to the new computer. You must first de-activate the license from the old computer. Go to Help/RentRight Sales on the old computer. Follow the prompts about moving from one computer to another. If you do not see these prompts, first download the latest version of RentRight on the old computer, then go to Help/RentRight Sales and follow the prompts to de-activate on line. Now that the license on the old computer is de-activated, you can go to the new computer, Help/RentRight Sales and you can follow the prompts to activate the new computer on line.

Phone or Email Activation:
If online activation does not work for you due to licensing confusion, computer change, or other reasons, please email us at sales@rentright.com or call 800-RENT-065 to receive an activation code.

Account Transfer:
The RentRight software license can be resold to another company within 3 years of the purchase date. This is often done when properties are sold along with the software to a new owner. In order to transfer ownership of the license, both parties (Seller and Buyer of the RentRight license) should be available over the phone with a RentRight sale representative. Call RentRight at (800-Rent-065) for account transfer. A 30% Account Transfer Administrative Fee (based on the current list price of the RentRight license being transferred) will be charged to either the seller or buyer at the account transfer.

When account transfer completes, the previous license owner (Seller) is no longer entitled to any RentRight customer benefits, for example, free support releases, upgrade credit, or newsletters, etc.

Upon account transfer, Buyer will receive a free shipment (RentRight bears shipping and handling expense) including RentRight update media/CD and manual. Buyer is also entitled to full RentRight customer benefits, when account transfer completes.
