How does the free trial work?
The free trial works for 30 days after you install it. Go ahead and
start using RentRight with your actual information. Everything you enter will be restored
when you purchase RentRight at any later time. However, if you choose to reinstall the
demo, the information you entered will be lost.
How do I get a free trial?
We have made downloading easy. With one click RentRight will download
into a directory. All you need to do is follow the prompts to install when the download is
complete. The installation screens will appear when download is complete. If you have any

How do I order?

What if I have product questions?

What if I obtain more rental units?
You will have a credit toward future purchases. See the
Pricing for how much credit you will have for each
version.
What is the guarantee?
We have a 30 day money back guarantee.
How many copies of RentRight products have been sold?
Since 1-1-97 when RentRight was released (after 4 years of development),
we have sold over 23,000 copies all over the world.
Can I import data from other property management software into RentRight?
No, an import tool is not available from other property management software into RentRight.
Can other computers access RentRight?
With RentRight you can install RentRight in one location
and then access this database remotely from anywhere in the world if you
have a high speed connection. For example, you can use your laptop to
access your RentRight database from an internet cafe or a home computer.
Or you may have multiple sites that access one large database or only
the part of it that they have permission to view.
The server computer must be powered on and connected to the
internet for a client to access the database. However, the program itself should
be closed.
Once the initial setup is complete on your main computer, all
you will need from any remote location is a client installation of RentRight
(with your CD or a quick download from our web site if you haven't already
installed on this computer). Then just input your Internet Password and IP
address.
If you are using computers setup on a local network, your
client computers will be able to find the main computer (server) on the network
and dial in to the database that way. The simultaneous user licenses work the
same way with a local connection as they do with a remote/internet connection.
Can I interface RentRight data with my Web site?
The Microsoft SQL Server is an open database, so you could
create your own queries to access that data. However, RentRight does not have
any type of interface that would allow you to write a query directly from the
program.
Can I create custom reports?
At this time, RentRight does not have a custom reporting feature.
Can I export to Excel?
Yes, you can export existing RentRight reports into an Excel database.
Can I import or export to QuickBooks?
RentRight does not have an export or import
feature into QuickBooks at this time.
Does the program have a system for Common Area Maintenance?
No, these charges would have to be set up separately as any
other recurring charge would be.
I don't understand what a unit means in relation to program pricing. What constitutes a unit?
Any rentable space is a unit, including a storage unit,
apartment, parking space, etc. You can have an unlimited number of tenants in
the program, both active and inactive. As an example, RentRight 25 is for up to
25 rentable units. The program will only limit how many units you enter in the
program according to the activation code you receive upon purchase or upgrade.
Any units that you make inactive will be counted into your total unit amount.
Can I set up my owners as a
separate entity?
Yes, you can have owners setup as a group or a company and
then build that owner's properties under the group or company you have created.
Can I keep all of my inactive
tenant's data?
When a tenant moves out, you make them inactive. RentRight
will keep all of their history, regardless of the number of units you have in
the program.
I have offices in different
locations; can one user see another user's information?
You can setup each user to view only the information that you
designate, including buildings, banking, work orders, etc.
I don't have a server; do I
have to buy one?
The term "server" for RentRight refers to the main computer
that stores the database. It could be the front desk computer, the owner's
computer, an actual server, etc. Any "good" computer can function as a server.
Does RentRight do automatic
back-ups?
Yes, RentRight will backup automatically each day, the first
time that you open the program.
Will a client be able to access
everything that the server computer can?
Yes, but the reports over an Internet connection can take 2-3
minutes to pull up on a client's computer.
Will I need Internet access to
be in RentRight?
No, if you are on the server you will not need Internet
access. However, if a remote client will be dialing into the server, that server
and client must both be logged onto the Internet.
I don't have Microsoft SQL
Server; do I have to purchase that separately?
No, RentRight includes one instance copy of Microsoft SQL
Server Express 2005. This is part of the single installation from our CD or
website download. There is not anything separate to download.
Where will my main database be
located?
It will be located on the computer where you have loaded the
server version of the software. The data is not stored at RentRight
headquarters, nor is it stored on the internet, unless you opt to hire a company
to store data for you online.
When is support staff
available?
Tech support hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 to 5:00 EST.
What does technical support
include?
Technical support packages include the ability to access our
tech support team through email or telephone during our normal support hours. If
you purchase a yearly package, you have unlimited access for the entire year.
Can I just download the program
from the Web site?
Yes, the free trial on our website is a fully functioning
version of the RentRight software. After 30 days, the program will lock up and
ask you to purchase and activate.
How do I activate the program?
Once you have purchased, you can E-mail:
sales@rentright.com or call 800-736-8065 to activate the software.
Is the demo a fully functioning
version?
Yes, you will have every single privilege in the demo version
that you would have in the purchased version. The program will just lock up
after your 30 day trial has expired.
How many clients can I have for one server?
You can
have an unlimited number of client computers for each server. Each program
purchased comes with one simultaneous user license. This will allow any one
computer to dial into the database. If you purchase an additional user license,
then any two computers can dial in simultaneously.
Do you have a Mac version of RentRight?
No, it is only a Windows-based program at this time.
Can I upgrade my unit number at any time?
Yes, you
will only pay the difference in price for additional units. There will be
nothing new to download, and we will just give you a new activation code.
If I
don't want to use the internet to access RentRight from my laptop, can I just do
a backup of my data and restore it onto my laptop?
You can
use RentRight this way, but you must purchase two complete versions of the
program.
Does RentRight offer electronic payment feature for bills?
No, at this time, there is not an electronic bill payment option.
Can I merge RentRight letters with my tenant's information?
Yes, you
can use this feature in the Letters to Tenants section. Please keep in mind that
RentRight requires Microsoft Word to use the word processor function.
What is your return policy?
You can return the program within 30 days of purchase.
Do I receive any free technical support when I purchase?
You have
access to free technical support while you are operating under the demo version.
Also, when you purchase the software, you will have an additional 30 days of
free technical support to help you get started.
Do you have a manual that comes with the program?
The manual for RentRight is embedded into the software. You can go
there by clicking on the blue question mark in the top menu bar. From there you
can read it chapter and page, or type in a keyword to search. There is also free
help available if you search the FAQs available on our website, also accessible
through the program by clicking Help, then FAQ. The manual is also available in
PDF format and can be downloaded from our website, then printed out at your
location. It is 223 pages.
Can I use the checks that I already have?
RentRight is compatible with QuickBooks checks (3 checks per page only) or RentRight
checks that can be ordered from our designated forms provider. We cannot
guarantee that any other type of check will work with the software.
Can I E-mail reports, invoices, and statements?
Yes, you can email all of these in PDF format from the RentRight program.
Do you charge sales tax?
Ohio orders will be charged 6.5% sales tax.
How much do you charge for shipping?
We recommend that you download the program for free to save the shipping charge AND
get the most recent version of the RentRight software. However, you are welcome
to request a shipment. Shipping and handling is $10.00 via USPS Priority Mail.
Your package will typically be sent out within 1-2 business days from order
date. You can also choose overnight shipping for $30.00 via FedEx.
